What I Saw Today

What I Saw Today is the brilliant site by Richard Haines. Whether he is sitting on a park bench, at an industry party or the New York Fashion Shows, Mr. Haines always has his sketchbook. The models are everyday people that he comes across and they all seem to have this cool ease. His sketches really capture to mood of the clothing, the person wearing them and the scene. I love how he gets to the essence of the encounter. It is especially wonderful that they are drawings and not photos. They allow the viewer to create their own ideas and stories around the drawing. As I am no longer living in New York, his illustrations transport me back to that amazing parade of fashion. He reminds me that so much can be said in a gesture and that clothing is an extension how how we feel.
